Gehry’s new AGO had an important moment this week. The gallery’s highest piece of structural steel was hoisted into place to the applause of an enthusiastic crowd (okay, maybe not applause but there was enthusiasm). The AGO provides us with these building facts:

Overall Scale and Dimensions

• Overall building size increases by 20%
• 190,000 net square feet of total renovated space
• 97,000 square feet newly built space
• Dundas Street façade spans 600 feet (the length of 2 football fields) and rises 70 feet above street level
• South elevation rises 140 feet from Grange Park and frames the AGO’s historic house, The Grange
