Subway Experiences: Nigerian Wedding
With extreme points of view from every political spectrum taking over world events it was a pleasure to enjoy one of the great experiences Toronto offers its citizens: Unexpected and pleasurable subway encounters with people from other parts of the world. We rode the Bloor line last night just after ten. Across from us were three women dressed in rich traditional garb. We had to tell them how beautiful they looked in their dresses. Turns out they'd been to a wedding. They were Nigerian and their outfits, they explained, are worn for typical weddings there (and here too).

For those of you who don't take the subway you are missing one of the great ways to experience Toronto. Here you can discover that the city is not a melting pot. It is a net of interconnected hopes and dreams shared by people of all colours and races. Differences rub up against one when you travel across town. Often those differences give texture and joy to our truly unique and accepting city.
