Showing Off Gary Michael Dault
Did you know that Reading Toronto contributor and noted writer and art critic Gary Michael Dault is also an artist? We are embarrassed to admit neither did we until a week or two ago (what can I say, we have been busy). Gary is one of this country's great cultural resources. In addition to authoring numerous books and poems, his literary work includes scripts for television -- did you see Peter Ustinov's series,"Inside the Vatican?" That was his.

He is talented. Dault is opening a new show of his paintings this Friday evening at the Transit Gallery in Hamilton.

Here is a little background on his shows:
As a practicing artist, Dault has shown his work (paintings on paper, for the most part) at the Wynick/Tuck Gallery in Toronto (1996, 1998, 2004), at Spin Gallery, Toronto (2001), at Revolver, Toronto (2002), at Gallery 1313, Toronto (2005), Pteros Gallery, Toronto (2004) and at Transit Gallery, Hamilton (2005). In June-July of 2004, he exhibited his Cereal Box Paintings at Wynick/Tuck (curated by Gerald Ferguson). His Salt Poems: New Writings and Paintings were shown at Toronto’s Pteros Gallery in November of 2004, followed by two exhibitions at Hamilton’s Transit Gallery in June 2005 (Writers: New Paintings on Paper) and in 2006.

We look forward to seeing you there.
