Parking Shakespeare In Withrow

Withrow Park's Shakespeare In The Rough ends its summer season this weekend with the final performances of Antony and Cleopatra. The last show is Monday afternoon at 2:00. Take the family down if the weather allows and experience both Shakespeare and Riverdale's Withrow Park in a new way. It is not Stratford but it is good.
Spanning ten years and two continents, Antony and Cleopatra illuminates the personal story behind Antony's fall, Cleopatra's love and Caesar's undeniable ascent to greatness. With shocking relevance to today's 'theatre of war', Shakespeare's beautifully poetic tale explores empire and ambition, and ultimately questions the possibility of peaceable love during times of violent strife.

The Globe and Mail says:
When Ruth Madoc-Jones's name first came up in connection with Shakespeare in the Rough's Antony and Cleopatra, I assumed -- like many of her friends, as it turned out -- that she would be playing the passionate Egyptian Queen. Instead, she's making her Shakespeare directorial debut in this outdoor production, which opens tomorrow at Withrow Park, starring Sean Dixon as Antony and Lesley Dowey as Cleopatra.
