Hume On Beirut

The Toronto Star's
Christopher Hume reveals how Beirut, until a few short days ago, was showing the world how to build a successful city. Toronto urban designer
Tony Coombes played a role in Beirut's redevelopment. This story is worth the price of a Sunday Star.

Robert!
To say that the story is worth the price of a Sunday Star is terribly damning…with faint praise….Was this what you meant? A Sunday Star isn’t expensive for most of us, especially probably those who read this blog.
It reminds me of a faintly damning blurb the publishers of Charles Taylor’s book, Sources of the Self, chose to put on the book’s cover: “One of the most important works of philosophy [or some such] to have emerged in the last quarter century.”
Revise! revise!!
