Act Now To Reinvent Toronto
Yesterday, prior to Mayor David Miller's call to action on the city's budget crisis, I sent this email to all of Toronto's elected representatives:
The sooner Toronto begins to implement policies like those of city-states elsewhere in the world, the sooner our Provincial and Federal governments will understand they must act to keep Toronto competitive or risk losing the jewel in Canada's economic crown (not to mention the tax-paying voters politicians have come to rely on).

And if getting senior levels of government to act requires Toronto to levy new taxes, so be it. I, for one, will be hurt by a house transfer tax but if it makes Toronto a more livable city - sustainable, with modern transit, and a healthy, well-educated population - I am willing to pay that cost and there are many residents in the city like me.

Please vote with Mayor Miller to start reinventing the city now for the benefit of present and future generations.
