Get lost at Artexte
image

We've mentioned them already on this site, but here we go again: take a trip to the potent package that is Artexte - Montreal's secret weapon for aesthetic research. And if you think Reading Montreal's advocacy of this archival gem isn't enough, the latest news is that Artexte is a finalist for the Grand Prix 2005 awarded by the Conseil des arts de Montréal. This prize recognizes the excellence of a production or an event in seven categories: Visual Arts, Media Arts, Film and Video, Dance, Literature, Music and Theater.

Artexte has been nominated for the outstanding work it has done over the years to collect, document, and make available significant (and oftentimes extremely rare) material on Canadian artists and their diverse productions. The CAM press release has this to say:
Les arts visuels sont dignement représentés par Artexte, un centre de recherche et un lieu de rencontre convivial, qui garde les mots en mémoire et en réserve, depuis 25 ans maintenant, en documentant et en diffusant tout ce qui touche à l'art contemporain.
